On Labor Day in 2022, are you curious about what stores will be open? You can get all the information you require right here.

For starters, why should you care? There’s more to it than merely wanting to know if your local grocery has the components for grilling recipes. Labor Day is, after all, a day to commemorate those who put in their time and effort. For more than 130 years, it has been a federal “workingmen’s holiday” recognised by the US Department of Labor and observed by a three-day weekend. Also, a lot of barbeque food is available.

Although the holiday’s goal is to provide everyone a day off of work on the first Monday in September, that isn’t always the case. Most large businesses and retail stores, as well as the majority of eateries, stay open. According to the holiday’s roots, government workers are practically assured to get an extra 24 hours of vacation, while other workers’ weekend plans are less definite (in other words, don’t book that pumpkin farm expedition just yet).

This year’s Labor Day 2022 store openings and closings are all listed right here for your convenience. If you don’t see a closure on this page, please check back in the weeks coming up to Thanksgiving.

P.S. Don’t wait until the last minute to start planning! You can also find out which retailers will be open on Thanksgiving  by visiting our website. what eateries are open on Thanksgiving, as well

Labor Day in 2022: Are liquor stores open?

Liquor stores are required by law to close on Labor Day (and often because their liquor sales and distribution are regulated by the state).

There are, of course, numerous exceptions to every rule. For one thing, if the store in question is not state-controlled, the proprietor can decide whether or not to keep it open.

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin, according to Legal Beer, do not have state-controlled liquor sales and distribution.

In the end, you’ll be better served by contacting your local retailer. Liquor stores in Kansas, for example, are required by law to close on certain holidays, including Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, even though they are not subject to state regulation.

Individual counties and municipalities could have laws that effect whether stores are open on Memorial Day, too. As always, call ahead to find out what your local store is doing!
